Timestamp Your Music
Lyrics or Any Other File on the Blockchain

Create immutable Proof of Existence on the Polygon network

How it works

1

Prepare Your Work

Select your audio (MP3, WAV) or any other digital file. For better metadata protection and multi-file projects, we highly recommend using a ZIP archive (read why in the FAQ).

2

Select or Drag & Drop

Choose a file from your device or simply drag it into the field with the Cloud icon. Please note: only one file can be processed per registration.

3

Privacy-First Hashing

Your browser calculates a unique SHA-256 digital fingerprint locally. The original file is never uploaded to our servers, meaning we absolutely cannot see, access, or store your content.

4

Blockchain Timestamping

We anchor your hash to the Polygon network to create a secure, tamper-proof timestamp. Once the transaction is confirmed, a “Certificate” button will appear for your PDF download.

Success!

You have created a permanent, immutable record of your file's existence at this specific moment on the blockchain.

Critical Notice

Blockchain verification requires an exact byte-for-byte match. Any change—even re-saving or modifying hidden metadata—will create a new hash, rendering the original proof invalid.

Tip: We recommend packing your work into a ZIP archive (even for single files). This "locks" the metadata and ensures your digital fingerprint remains consistent.

FAQ

1. Why do I need this?
ProoFiles helps you establish an immutable record that your work existed at a specific point in time. While it's not a substitute for official government copyright registration, it provides powerful technical evidence (Proof of Existence) that can be used to resolve authorship disputes or prove "prior existence" before sharing your work with others.
2. How does it work?
We use "client-side hashing." Your browser calculates a unique digital fingerprint (SHA-256) of your file locally. Only this 64-character string (hash) is sent to our server and recorded on the Polygon blockchain. Your original file never leaves your computer.
3. Why do you recommend using a ZIP archive?
Digital files carry "metadata" (like last-saved dates) that can change when you move files between devices or upload them to clouds. Even a 1-byte change results in a completely different hash. A ZIP archive "locks" the file and its metadata inside a container, ensuring your digital fingerprint remains consistent and verifiable anywhere.
4. How can I verify my registration independently?
You don't need our website to verify your record. You can use any external SHA-256 calculator to get your file's hash and then look up that hash in the "Data" field of your transaction on PolygonScan. Our Integrity Check tool simply makes this process easier for you.
5. I lost my Certificate, what should I do?
Don't worry. Your PDF Certificate is just a convenient summary; the real proof lives on the blockchain. As long as you have the original file, you can calculate its hash and find your original timestamp on the Polygon network at any time. The record never disappears. However, we do not store your generated PDF Certificates for privacy reasons, so if you lose the file, we cannot resend it. Please save it immediately after creation.
6. Why doesn't my file's hash match the one in the Certificate?
This happens if the file has been modified. Even the slightest change—like re-saving a document, opening it in a different editor, or a system changing hidden metadata—alters the digital fingerprint. This is why we strictly recommend keeping the original file untouched or packing it into a ZIP archive before hashing.
7. Can I register a whole album instead of one song?
Absolutely. You can pack multiple files, folders, or an entire album into a single ZIP archive. ProoFiles will timestamp the hash of that specific archive, protecting the integrity of the entire collection as a single record.
8. How can I contact the ProoFiles team?
You can use the contact form at the bottom of this page or email us directly at support@proofiles.com. We welcome feedback, partnership proposals, and technical inquiries.
9. What information is included in the Certificate?
The PDF certificate contains your name, the file name, its unique SHA-256 hash, the exact blockchain timestamp, and a link to the transaction record on the Polygon network. It serves as human-readable evidence of your blockchain record. The name you enter is not stored on the blockchain.
10. Why do you use a credit system instead of traditional registration?
We know that going through a traditional registration process—creating accounts, inventing passwords, and confirming emails—can be tedious and time-consuming. We care about your convenience, so we completely simplified the experience. By using a pre-paid credit system (Access Codes), you can skip registration entirely and get straight to timestamping your files with zero friction.
11. Does a ProoFiles Certificate mean my copyright is officially registered?
No. ProoFiles is not a government agency or an official copyright office. Under international law, your copyright is automatic the moment you create your original work. What ProoFiles provides is cryptographic Proof of Existence. It acts as an independent, mathematically verifiable record that your specific file existed at a specific second in time. While this is incredibly powerful evidence for resolving disputes or proving that you had the work first (Prior Art), it does not replace a formal government copyright registration, which you may still need to file a lawsuit for statutory damages in certain jurisdictions.

TERMS OF SERVICE AND RISK DISCLOSURE

Effective Date: February 21, 2026 | Version: 2026.1

1. NATURE OF THE SERVICE

1.1. Technical Interface: ProoFiles (the "Service") is a web-based technical tool that allows users to generate cryptographic hashes of their files locally and broadcast them to the Polygon blockchain.

1.2. No Custody & Zero-Knowledge: The Service utilizes client-side technology. Your original files are never uploaded to our servers. We do not store, possess, or have access to your original content.

1.3. Not a Government Registry: The Service provides technical proof of existence (timestamping). It is not a substitute for official copyright or patent registration with government authorities.

2. ACCESS, PAYMENTS & CREDITS

2.1. Credit-Based Access: Access to the timestamping functions requires "Credits" or "Access Codes."

2.2. Pre-paid Digital Goods: Credits are digital utility units. By purchasing Credits, you request and provide express consent for the immediate supply of digital content.
